Independence is everything! (opinion article)

I was once asked this question: What do you think the purpose teaching is? Is it to teach students information or to teach them how to think? My answer to that question was neither. In my opinion, the purpose of education, teaching, and learning is independence. Learning information and knowing how to think are just tools for independence. Independece is one of the most important things that we need to know how to do.

When you are a child, its the life. You don't have to feed yourself or dress yourself. You never have to worry about money or buying stuff. Your parents do it for you. Heck (to not offend anyone). As a child, you most likely don't even know that any of those things are even problems you have to worry about. Like is said earlier, its the life. Yet, unfortanetly, you have to grow. You realize all the difficulties that you have to face and all the problems you have to worry about. There is no one to do it for you or to take care of things for you, well unless you're super lucky. For most normal people, as they grow up, they have to do things on their own. If you don't know how to be independent and how to do things for your self, then you are in a lot of trouble.
